BID Extra Mile Award

In a town where independents and national chains work together to keep the high street alive, this is a chance to nominate a town centre business, team or individual in the BID area that goes, or has gone, the “extra mile” to deliver exceptional customer service. The winner must come from within the BID area.

John Turner Memorial Award

An award named in honour of the loyal servant and vice-chairman of Bishop’s Stortford Football Club who died suddenly, just six weeks before awards night at the inaugural Indies in 2017. The winner will be a person who epitomises service behind the scenes and around the clock.

Is there someone at your child's school - primary or secondary - in the Bishop's Stortford area who deserves to be crowned the inaugural Indies Community Awards School Hero? They don't even have to wear a cape! The winner will be someone you view as the school's beating heart, someone whose commitment to the children and their colleagues shines out or someone who goes the extra mile without reward or recognition - until now. It could be anyone in the school hierarchy, from the head or governors to the caretaker via the teaching staff, a classroom volunteer or a member of the admin team.
